Unfortunately the airports are currently having some issues with queues. The main reason for this is the staff shortages in security. However, passengers not knowing or following the rules is also adding to the issues, so you can do your part to help the process run smoothly by following the below tips.
Check what time your check-in opens and ensure you arrive in plenty of time.
Ensure your hand luggage is packed correctly. No liquids, gels, lipsticks or pastes of any kind. If you have any they can be no more than 100ml and must be in a separate clear plastic bag. Have this ready beforehand.
Don’t wear belts or lots of metal jewellery, or remove them prior to security. Keep pockets empty wherever possible.
Don’t wear shoes with metal in the heels, trainers or soft shoes are best.
Phones, iPads, laptops, hairdryers, straighteners etc. have to go through separately so make sure they are easily accessible, or in your suitcase where possible.
Coats and jackets need to be removed, so get ready before you reach the security point.
There aren't any toilets when going through security so make sure you go before.

In the meantime, be prepared, be patient, be kind and remember, the security staff on duty are doing their best in a bad situation. Enjoy your holiday!
